Welcome to the Westside Media Center

The Media Center at Westside Elementary School is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. There is a wide variety of books and other resources available for students to use and check out. Each class will visit every other week for lessons and book checkout.

In addition, our Media Center is Future Ready.  We house the school's only Makerspace and support schoolwide STEM initiatives.  Media Center lessons support classroom instruction and help to enrich the curriculum.  Our Media Specialist plans and collaborates with classroom teachers to accomplish this goal.  Our technology includes 7 laptop carts, 11 Chromeboxes, Chromebooks, a SMART panel and over 200 ipads.

The media center sponsors three book fairs each year.  Our Accelerated Reader program is funded in partial by the book fairs and supports student literacy. This program encourages students to read by awarding points for correctly answering questions about the books they have read.  Prizes are awarded monthly, and we host two large celebrations per year for students who reach their goals.
